City History Museum

Situated in the heart of the old quarter, in the former Capuchin convent, the museum includes the entire history of the city of Girona, from the first pre-historic dwellers, to its medieval splendour up until today.

Archaeological Museum of Girona

The museum houses all the archaeological material from pre-historic times and ancient eras (Iberian, Greek and Roman) found in the province of Girona and which weren’t sent to the storage facilities of Barcelona which is the case of the Esculapio de Empúries statue. There, on can find milestones, head stones, mosaics and everyday materials. The museum also includes the medieval period, with examples of medieval epigraphy.

Art Museum

Founded in 1976, the museum is located in the old Episcopalian palace of Girona, next to the Cathedral. The museum houses art collections from all periods, from the Romanesque to the Modern Age, with works by Ramon Martí Alsina and Joaquim Vayreda.

Chapter Museum-Treasury of the Cathedral

Museum dedicated to relics and objects of value accumulated by the chapter of the Girona Cathedral. One may find collections of religious art, liturgical objects and articles of gold and silver. Among the pieces, the Beat de Liébana (manuscripts written out by Beatus of Liebana), created in Zaragoza is worth mentioning, as is the Tapiz de la Creación (Tapestry of Creation), from the 11th and 12th centuries.

Cinema museum of Girona

Inaugurated in 1998, it’s a one-of-a-kind museum in its category. Created with the donations of the cinema director Tomàs Mallol, it includes a wide variety of cinematographic material, such as projectors, reels, original material from films and movie posters.

Jewish History Museum

Museum dedicated to the history of the Jewish community in Girona from the Medieval era, from the 11th century to the Pogrom of 1391 up until the expulsion in 1492. t contains objects from the Jewish culture and a rich collection of headstones from the Girona Jewish cemetery in Montjuïc (a mount in Girona).
