Historia - Museos - Alrededores

Parques

Montjuïc:

En la montaña de Montjuïc, situada sobre el puerto, se pueden encontrar el castillo de Montjuïc y varios jardines temáticos y singulares: el de Mossèn Costa i Llobera (cactus), el de Joan Maragall, el de Joan Brossa (antiguo Parque de Atracciones), Laribal (alrededor de la Font del Gat). También cuenta con instalaciones deportivas como el Estadio Olímpico de Montjuïc, sede central de los Juegos Olímpicos de Barcelona en 1992. También cuenta con importantes equipamientos culturales: Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña (MNAC), Fundación Joan Miró, CaixaFòrum, Museo Militar de Barcelona, y la Ciudad del Teatro.

Ciutadella: Fuentes del Parque de la Ciutadella

Sede de la Exposición Universal en 1888. El parque se construyó sobre los terrenos de la antigua fortaleza de la ciudadela, construida por Felipe V en 1716. Aún quedan edificios pertenecientes a esta fortaleza, como la Capilla castrense, el Palacio del Gobernador (actual Instituto) y el Polvorín (Parlamento de Cataluña). La Ciutadella fue derribada a partir de 1868. De aquella época se conservan el Arco de Triunfo (antigua entrada al recinto ferial) y el actual Museo de Zoología.

Parque Güell:

El Parque Güell fue un encargo del Conde Güell a Antoni Gaudí. Este parque fue pensado como una especie de barrio de lujo para las familias acomodadas de la ciudad. Pero solo se vendió un terreno. En este parque (declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1984) la naturaleza y la arquitectura se confunden y se complementan.

Barrios

L'Eixample:

Se trata del barrio que se empezó a construir a partir de 1860 partiendo del proyecto de Ildefons Cerdà, para ensanchar la ciudad hacia el llano de Barcelona. L'Eixample es el rincón de la ciudad donde se encuentran la mayor parte de edificios de estilo modernista. No es raro encontrarse, mientras se pasea por sus calles, una fachada, un comercio o un vestíbulo con sorprendentes ornamentos florales, hierro forjado, esculturas o ladrillos. La Sagrada Familia, obra inacabada de Antoni Gaudí, se encuentra en l'Eixample.
