CARACTERÍSTICAS DEL SEA STAR

El Sea Star es un barco del tipo Bergantín, que está constituido por dos mástiles, con todo su aparejo formado por velas cuadradas; es decir, velas dispuestas en los mástiles colgando de vergas transversales respecto al eje longitudinal de la nave (el que va desde la proa hasta la popa). Tiene una longitud de 31 metros, de los cuales sólo 22 pertenecen a la cubierta. Esta embarcación está construida con madera. Dispone de un comedor en cubierta de popa, banco panorámico en proa, solárium, amplio salón, TV, Wi-Fi, embarcación auxiliar, 400m2 de trapo, cañas de pesca, tripulación profesional (capitán oficial, cocinera y gavieros) y todos los servicios necesarios para un viaje placentero y seguro.

HISTORIA

El bergantín apareció en la segunda parte del siglo XVII y se empleó de forma generalizada hasta el siglo XIX. Se caracterizaba por la gran superficie bélica que era capaz de desplegar para su desplazamiento, de hasta 600 toneladas, siendo los bergantines buques extremadamente rápidos, ágiles en la maniobra, y apropiados para tráfico entre continentes.

Los bergantines fueron empleados como buques para tráfico mercante, pero también como corsarios, gracias a su gran velocidad, que les permitía escapar de navíos y fragatas y alcanzar a toda clase de tráfico mercante. De esta forma, las armadas incorporaron a su vez el bergantín, que transportaba normalmente hasta una docena de piezas en cubierta, para exploración y lucha contra la piratería.
