El Call jueu (Jewish quarter)

The Old Quarter:

This is the area that remained behind the medieval walls and the bastions of the early Modern Period. The Town Council began restoration of this quarter in 1982 due to tourist demand and historical interest. The Call jueu is located in the old quarter.
The houses of the Onyar:

They are known for their “hanging” construction over the Onyar river. All of the facades facing the river are painted, following a colour palette created by Enric Ansesa, Jaume Faixó and architects J. Fuses and J.Viader. The Farinera Teixidor and the Casa de la Punxa: the Farinera Teixidor building (1910 - 1911), work of Girona twentieth century architect Rafael Masó Valentí.
The Devesa Park:

La Rambla de la Llibertat(Freedom Boulevard) :
Today, this boulevard still preserves part of its arcades as well as some of the palaces from the same era. The nineteenth century buildings are more numerous and override part of the original medieval construction. Today, la Rambla is a meeting point for strolling, having coffee...
La Plaça de la Independència (Independence Square):

Located in the Mercadal district, in the city centre, the square is built on the former site of the Sant Agustín convent. The space is surrounded by austere, identical neoclassical buildings, with arcades on the lower floors. In the middle of the square stands one of the few nineteenth century sculptures, in tribute to the defenders of the city of Girona during the sieges of 1808 and 1809.
The bridges over the Onyar:

There are 4 to point out: the stone bridge, from 1849, substituted the medieval bridge that joined the districts of the city (today, there are no existing medieval bridges), the puente de hierro (iron bridge) or puente de Eiffel, in hour of Gustave Eiffel, whose company built the bridge, the puente d'en Gómez,(Gomez bridge) which is named after the person whose house was expropriated in order to build the bridge, and the viaduct del ferrocarril( railway viaduct), built in 1876 and which represents the arrival of modernity and progress to a still-walled Girona.
