Parks
Montjuïc:

On the mount of Montjuïc, located above the port, the Montjuic castle can be found, as can several unique thematic gardens: Mossèn Costa i Llobera (cactus), Joan Maragall, Joan Brossa (old amusement park), Laribal (near the Font del Gat- cat fountain). It also boasts sports installations such as the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc, main venue of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. It also has important cultural installations: National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), Joan Miró Foundation, CaixaFòrum(exhibition space), Military Museum of Barcelona and the “Theatre City.”
Ciutadella: Fountains of the Ciutadella park

Venue of the Universal Exposition in 1888. The park was built over the terrain of the former fortress of ciutadella, built by Felipe V in 1716. Some buildings belonging to this fortress still exist, such as the “Military Chapel”, the Governor’s Palace (currently a high school) and the Polvorín (Parlament of Catalonia). The Ciutadella was torn down around 1868. From that period, the Arco de Triunfo (“Arch of Triumph” and former entrance to fairgrounds) and the existing Zoological Museum.
Park Güell:

Antoni Gaudí was commissioned by Count Güell to design Park Güell. This park was conceived as a kind of luxury neighbourhood for the wealthy families of the city. But only one lot was sold. In this park (declared a World Heritage Site in 1984) nature and architecture merge and complement one another.
Districts
Eixample

This district started being built in 1860 based on the project by Ildefons Cerdà, in order to expand the city towards the Plain of Barcelona. The Eixample is the corner of the city in which the most modernist buildings can be found. It’s not unusual to find, while walking the streets, a facade, business or vestibule with surprising floral decoration, cast iron, sculptures or bricks. The Sagrada Familia, unfinished work of Antoni Gaudí, is located in the Eixample.
